Last night’s Glasgow Film Festival special event screening of Lost In France was a roaring success with audiences in Glasgow – and across the UK and Ireland.
The screening and gig event, held in Glasgow’s own O2 ABC venue, was broadcast live via satellite to 25 cinemas in the UK and Ireland. The night opening with a short but hugely entertaining performance from Rik Flick and Pat M’Bongo from The Johnny 7, both of whom also feature in the film.
Our compere for the night – distinguished music journalist and broadcaster Nicola Meighan – started the cinema simulcast with an intro to the film by director Niall McCann and producers Nicky Gogan and Paul Welsh.
After the film screening, audiences were treated to a fabulous performance by five of the films’ main players – Alex Kapranos (Franz Ferdinand), Stuart Braithwaite (Mogwai), RM Hubbert and Emma Pollock & Paul Savage (The Delgados). As one-off band “The Maurons”, their set celebrated Glasgow’s music scene, past to present, with indie classics from The Pastels, The Jesus & Mary Chain and Franz Ferdinand.
As the simulcast ended in cinemas, the party continued at O2 ABC Glasgow, with a rousing set from one of Chemikal Underground‘s current acts Holy Mountain.
For those that missed the event, you can catch Lost In France in select cinemas and Curzon Home Cinema from 24th February 2017.
